Best comedy movies of the last 20 years

This list only contains the recent comedy movies, as the title suggests. So you won't find movies like 'Some like it Hot' here. It's disappointing to see that almost all lists available on the net are filled with oldies. They almost always overlook the great comedy movies that have been produced in recent times. So here it is, the comprehensive list of the best movies of this generation. Enjoy. :)

Footnote: The sequence is random. I didn't dare to rank these movies, as all of them are equally funny to me. However, you can rank them, in the poll.

1) American Pie (1999):     Hilarious take on the sexual adventures and ambitions of teenagers. Though I've mentioned only the first part, all the other parts are equally watchable. Special mention: Seann William Scott as Stiffler. Only drawback: too much concentration on sex and nudity at times, but if you are a guy, that must not bother you. :)

2) Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994):    The film that ensured that Jim Carrey seals his place as the greatest comic actor of our generation. I can never imagine anyone else carrying off that outrageous hairdo with such aplomb! Hardly you'll find a dull moment in this hilarious detective story.

3) The Hangover (2009):        Ever had those crazy parties with your friends, when you woke up the next morning, only to find that you have forgotten everything that happened last night? Well, if you ever had one of those, then you must watch The Hangover. Special mention: Mike Tyson's tiger.

4) Bruce Almighty (2003):     Jim Carrey again. This time accompanied by the great Morgan Freeman. Man insults God. God gets pissed. God gives man his powers for one day. For the rest, watch the movie. You won't regret it. I promise.

5) EuroTrip (2004):        This teen comedy isn't as well known as the other movies on this list, but I can guarantee you, is sure as much fun! American guy sets out to find the love of his life in Germany before it's too late, and stumbles upon some pretty hilarious adventures on the way. Watch out for the Italian man in the train-ride sequence. Just awesome!

6) American Beauty (1999):        I was unsure about listing this film under the 'best comedy' category, coz this film has so many dimensions to it! Kevin Spacey is this average American family man going through a mid-life crisis, until he decides to change his life completely, with some drastic consequences. Filled with a lot of comic sequences, the ending is sure to leave a lump in your throat.

7) Meet the Spartans (2008):          The best spoof film ever! I would recommend that you watch '300' first (if you haven't already) and then watch this movie, to get the most out of it. At times, I even felt that the spoof surpassed the over-the-top and over-dramatic original, '300'. Special mention: the gangster penguin, and the "yo momma" fight between the Spartan and Persian army. Sheer madness! :)

8) Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993):           In spite of being a parody, this is the best Robin Hood movie ever, according to me. It manages to make fun of almost all the characters from the legend of Robin Hood, in typical Mel Brooks style. Carey Elwis is awesome as the overtly patriotic and brave Robin Hood. Watch out for the Godfather-like hitman employed to kill Robin. Also, the behind-the-curtains song sequence involving Robin and Maid Marian. Hysterical! :)

9) Rush Hour (1998):          The eccentric pairing of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker worked wonders for this action-comedy film, whose huge success resulted in another two sequels, till now. Jackie Chan became famous as the inventor of comic-action, if there is a thing like that actually.

10) Wild Hogs (2007):         Four friends, suffering from mid-life crisis, decide to embark on a road-trip, stumbling upon some adventure, a lot of mis-adventures, a biker gang and a gay police officer on the way. Hilarious most of the time, it is one of those comedies which has its heart in the right place.

11) Borat (2006): Sacha Baron Cohen is a Kazakh journalist who travels to USA to gain insight into the American culture and lifestyle. Though it has frequent homophobic, anti-semitic and even incestuous overtones, its a through and through laugh riot!

A lot of additions and alterations can be made to this list. I'm open to suggestions. :)
